Actress Line Verndal (52), perhaps best known from the NRK series “Himmelblå” and “Hele Norge baker” stepped into the world of reality TV with her participation in the Norwegian TV program “Camp Culinaris”, which is led by master chef Kjartan Skjelde, who pits celebrities against each other in the kitchen. Despite Line Verndal’s previous aversion to reality shows, she chose to participate in this season, which she saw as more of a collaboration than a sharp competition.
«I’m not too fond of the competition system and pointed elbows. This is a competition, but it feels more like a collaboration. That you work towards a goal together”, she says.
Unfortunately, Line Verndal’s stay in the competition did not last long. After an abrupt and unexplained goodbye in Tuesday’s episode, she expressed her disappointment at having to leave the show and the other contestants. She had been looking forward to learning more about cooking under Kjartan Skjelde’s guidance. Although she wanted to continue, she felt it was right to withdraw due to unspecified personal reasons. She emphasized that it was not difficult to make the decision, although it was sad to leave the show, according to The online newspaper.
“I can’t say too much about it because it’s not about me. So I can’t go into what it was about. But I had to leave a bit abruptly and quickly, and it wasn’t difficult to make that decision – even though it was very difficult to leave”, says Line.
Despite a general dislike of competition-driven reality shows, she described “Camp Culinaris” as a positive experience, thanks to its collaborative nature. She has previously avoided many offers to participate in various TV concepts, partly because she has prioritized time with her daughter and wanted to keep a low profile when it comes to her private life.
Jonas Møller, program editor at Viaplay, has expressed the hope that Line Verndal can return to the show in the future for some kind of revenge. This opens up the possibility of her resuming her culinary journey on the TV screen, despite her early departure this season.
