Cuban Authorities Under Fire for Handling of Missing Girl Case
Rosana Álvarez Mayari, a relative of Lali Paola Moliner, the Cuban girl reported missing in Havana over a week ago, expressed frustration with the authorities’ handling of the case. Through social media, she called out the government, police, and state council for their lack of action in finding her 3-year-old cousin.
“It’s been 10 days and nothing, if it were the daughter or granddaughter of one of them it would have already appeared in whatever circumstance,” Mayari said. “They are not looking for anyone, they are not doing anything… and it is not the only case in Cuba.”
The whereabouts of the missing girl remain unknown, as her mother, Teresa Moliner Bosa, was found lifeless near the coast. Her uncle, who spoke to independent press, disclosed that the girl left her house with her mother but has not been seen since. The circumstances surrounding her mother’s death are still unclear, as her body showed signs of trauma and her belongings, including her mobile phone, are missing.
The family has laid Teresa Moliner Bosa to rest, but the search for her daughter continues. The case has raised questions about the government’s response to missing persons cases in Cuba and has sparked concerns about the safety and security of its citizens.
