The Minister of Justice and Security, Gustavo Villatoro, reported the capture of a subject who was driving a vehicle transporting drugs. The individual in question, Elmer Isahy Cartagena Franco, was apprehended in his vehicle by the Anti-Narcotics Division of the National Civil Police (PNC) while in the middle of committing the crime.
According to the minister, a significant amount of drugs and other illegal items were confiscated from the suspect. This included 50 ecstasy pills, 50 envelopes containing drugs, 4 large portions of cocaine, a medium portion of ecstasy, a firearm, a cell phone, a vehicle, and ammunition. The combined value of the seized drugs is estimated to be over $16,000.
In response to the arrest, Minister Villatoro emphasized the severity of drug trafficking as a criminal offense and stressed that those involved will face the full extent of the law. In a tweet, he stated, “Illicit drug trafficking is a crime condemned with the full weight of the Law, anyone who dedicates themselves to this activity will have to pay in prison.”
The capture of Elmer Isahy Cartagena Franco is a significant victory for the Anti-Narcotics Division and the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
