REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) continues to pursue parties suspected of enjoying the proceeds of tin mining corruption at the PT Timah Tbk IUP location. Not only has the Attorney General arrested and named 16 people as suspects, he is also trying to save state losses in this case.

In the AGO’s calculations, state losses in the tin mining corruption case at the PT Timah Tbk IUP location are the largest record in handling corruption cases in Indonesia.

Jampidsus Investigation Director Kuntadi explained that the figure for state economic losses was IDR 271 trillion. z Regarding the value of IDR 271 trillion related to economic losses in this country, Jampidsus-Kejakgung collaborated with a team of environmental experts from the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB), West Java (Jabar).

In fact, the value of the country’s economic losses, said Kuntadi, will increase. Because the investigation team, together with the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP), have not yet finished calculating the state’s financial losses from illegal tin exploration and addition at the PT Timah Tbk IUP location.

“The results of calculating economic losses are based on the impact of ecological and environmental damage resulting from illegal tin mining activities which are currently the (object of) investigation into criminal acts of corruption in the management of PT Timah Tbk’s mining business permits (IUP),” said Kuntadi.

In a series of searches carried out by investigative teams in Bangka Belitung and Jakarta, since November 2023, hundreds of billions in cash were confiscated.
