Torino Comics the Magic of the 30th Anniversary

The thirtieth anniversary of Torino Comics ended with a great success among the public, who attended en masse, attracted by many initiatives and guests, giving life to an event full of attractions for all ages.

A Fair born in 1994 thanks to the passion and will of Vittorio Pavesio and Gianfranco Goria and today it has become an event with an international connotation.

Above all, we have returned to breathing the air of comics with the participation of numerous cartoonists: Silver, Luciano Costarelli, Lorenzo Balocco, Claudio Castelli, Andrea Broccardo, Francesco Guerrini, Carlo Lucarelli, Ester Cardella, Giorgio Sommacal, Samantha Scuri….

Among the various initiatives that involved visitors, it was impossible to follow them all, the wrestling matches, the Chris Heaven concert which took us back to the notes of George Michael’s famous songs, the RPG demonstrations of the Griffin Guild, the various conferences on anime with Enzo Tripodina, Marco Lupani, Fabio Valerio, Massimo Nicora, historians who revealed curiosities, anecdotes and debunked legends that revolve around these fantastic works.

An unmissable event was the presentation of the book “Gli Anni 80”, with the presence of one of the two authors: Massimo Cavozzi, the other is Christian Cavaciuti, assisted by the showman Mike Arcade, who made the meeting lively, professional and ironic, taking those present back in time with memories that have never faded and experiencing goosebumps emotions again.

Among the curiosities is the “Japanese Quarter”, an immersive place of Japanese culture with artists of drawing, origami, sculpture and miniature…

In homage to the recent death of the mangaka Akira Toriyama, the author of Dragon Ball, an exhibition was created with drawings and objects that revived the career of this great author, who himself wanted Dragon Ball, was published in Italy, in 1996, with Japanese reading.

There were many surprises and meetings that we were able to have like the author of the book “Simon’s Fantastic World” by Sandro Solido published by Albatros Edizioni, who told me about the genesis of the book and its hidden meaning behind it the whole narrative.

The joy and color that the cosplayers bring give that touch of magic to the whole event, this year the most popular characters were those taken from the animated series “Hazbin Hotel” broadcast in Italy on Prime Video.

Lots and lots more, from gamer stations to displays of cars made legendary by cult films and series, from Lupine’s 500 to Magnun PI’s Ferrari, from Fantozzi’s Bianchina to Diabolik’s Jaguar. Then the various YouTubers besieged by kids accompanied by their parents who were a little bewildered by all this clamor, without forgetting the entire market exhibition with action figures, t-shirts, katanas, comics, a large section for independent publishing houses as well as a ‘area completely dedicated to erotic comics.

Three days in which it was impossible to get bored.
