(LaPresse) Dozens of demonstrators gathered in Istanbul on Saturday to protest US Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s visit to Turkey. The protest, organized by the socialist and nationalist Vatan party, called on Ankara to cut ties with NATO, condemning Blinken’s trip to the region. Blinken began his latest emergency diplomatic mission to the Middle East from Turkey as fears grow that Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza could explode into a wider conflict. The American diplomat met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to discuss what Turkey and others can do to ease tensions. (LaPresse/Ap)
