Two British warships collided in a Bahraini port on Thursday. The incident, which was captured on video and posted on social networks, was only confirmed by the British Navy on Sunday. It was HMS Chiddingfold and HMS Bangor that collided: the latter was moored when the former rammed into her. They are both minesweeping ships, that is, ships designed for the reclamation of mined sea areas. The Navy said there were no injuries in the incident but that the ships suffered extensive damage, without specifying the extent. Rear Admiral Edward Ahlgren, the British Navy’s operations commander, said it was currently unknown what caused the crash and that an investigation had been opened.
