According to CCTV news, on June 22, local time, Republicans in the U.S. Senate blocked the Democratic Partyās massive election reform bill. The procedural vote for a public debate on the legislation fell by 50 votes to 50 votes. Lost, less than the 60 yes votes required to pass. Democratic senators used this legislation as a necessary counterattack against states that restrict votersā voting opportunities, but Republicans condemned it as partisan power and excessive federal interference in state voting and electoral systems. During the 2020 U.S. election, then President Trump repeatedly claimed that the election results were “stolen.” After the election, the Republican-controlled state legislature has been trying to promote the implementation of new state laws and impose restrictions on voting.
