The MAC stated that the main source of tension in the Taiwan Strait and hindering normal cross-strait exchanges is the Beijing authorities. They refuse to engage in peaceful dialogue, continue to politically blackmail Taiwan, and attempt to use a combination of force threats, legal sanctions, diplomatic obstruction, and differentiation and infiltration. Regarding whether Taiwan is invited to participate in the “Democratic Leadership Summit” hosted by the United States, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ou Jiang’an said on the 10th that since the White House announced in August that it will host the “Democratic Leadership Summit”, “the United States will discuss with us about participating in the summit.”
Ou Jiangan said that more than 20 relevant ministries and committees of the Republic of China government and the Taiwan Democracy Foundation have also actively counted the progress of various democracy and human rights related work in recent years, and put forward a number of specific commitment projects.
