Udinese | Lovric: “We will do everything to win: we have to work hard”

The Slovenian midfielder spoke about his leadership role in the team and the difficult moment the club is going through

On Udinese Tonight, broadcast on TV12, Sandi Lovric took stock of the situation at Juventus after the defeat against Atalanta. These are his statements: “It’s not an easy time, we all know that, but there is only one option: work hard and with your head held high. We are 100% focused. I don’t think the market will disturb us, we are all professionals and it won’t be the first or last session we will experience. We absolutely have to improve and show what a group we are. Against Monza it will be a very important match for us and we all know it. We must not let ourselves be disturbed by what happens outside the group. We will do everything to win”.

On the negative moment: “It weighs on us. I wouldn’t be telling the truth if I said that everything is fine. The answer must consist in raising everyone’s individual performance to thus achieve the results we need. In a difficult situation like this you have two solutions: either you give up or you do more. And we want to do more. After being here last time I started to do more, because I couldn’t accept the team situation, nor my own. I asked myself ‘what can I do to help Udinese?’. First I raised my individual level, intensifying training. By increasing the pace I helped, I think that’s what we will have to do now to get out of this situation.”

On the leadership role: “We more experienced players know that we have to set an example for young people, convey tranquility, because losing your mind now wouldn’t be the right thing. We have to pick up the pace and work hard to show them the way forward.”

The ranking: We don’t deserve that place in the rankings. After you play well for most of the games it hurts you as a player to see everything fall apart at the last moment. We can’t make excuses, things are like this now and we shouldn’t look too far ahead. Let’s think about tomorrow’s training and Saturday’s match. In a group, communication is very important, especially when times are difficult. Even if someone shouts every now and then it’s always for the good of the group, because we want to win and we want to do it on Saturday. It means a lot to us to feel at home with the stadium helping us. They give positive pressure, they are fundamental. After all, what is football without fans?”.
