Udinese news, Abankwah returns to base: loan to Charlton terminated

The Primavera centre-back has returned to Friuli given the little space he found in England. Another solution for Cioffi?

Back to base for James Abankwah. The defender born in 2004, who went on loan from Udinese to Charlton to find playing time, returned to Italy in January. The reason is the little space found in England. They were just in fact there were three presences with the English club (2 in League One and one in the FA Cup) for a total of 200 minutes on the pitch.

Although the loan was until 30 June 2024, the Friulian company therefore decided to interrupt it early. Abankwah will now join the group available to Gabriele Cioffi (he will wear the number 14 shirt) but the possibility of a new loan experience for these last six months of the season cannot be ruled out. If he stays in Friuli, Cioffi will have an extra center back to focus on.
