UEFA officially announced the new format for the 2024-2025 Champions League. The highest competition on the blue continent will be attended by 36 participants, an increase of four from the current edition.

Previously, the Champions League was attended by 32 participants with eight groups each containing four teams. In the new format, each team will play eight League Phase matches similar to the group phase.

The difference is, they no longer play home and away games against the same club in those eight matches. Each team will face one team each from each pot. So the occupants of pot 1 will face teams from pots 2, 3 and 4, but they will be different in the eight matches.
