Uganda, priest assassinated – La Stampa

Catholic priest Joshephat Kasambula of the diocese of Kiyinda-Mityana was murdered in cold blood yesterday evening in Uganda by a person who could have drug addiction problems. The news agency Fides reports. In the late afternoon of August 18, Fr. Joshephat had gone to supervise the work on a plot of land where he would meet his killer who was staying illegally on the farm. The priest asked the alleged killer who had authorized him to access the land and the house but he was hit in the back with a blunt instrument and died instantly. According to some witnesses, the alleged murderer is a known drug addict and it is believed that he was the effect of some narcotic substance at the time of the murder. Witnesses report that for several years the priest did not go to visit the house and land that belonged to his family. The alleged murderer had taken advantage of the lack of vigilance and had settled there for some time. Joshephat Kasambula 68 years old, he served the diocese of Kiyinda-Mityana as parish priest of Lwamata. The police collected his body for an autopsy while the search for the murderer who fled continues.
