According to reports, in conjunction with epidemic prevention and control and civilization creation, the market supervision department has recently conducted careful inspections of key places such as farmers’ markets, catering stores, and tourist craft shops; at the same time, it has strengthened the monitoring and supervision of online trading platforms and strictly investigated wildlife online transactions. Illegal behavior, by searching and monitoring wild animal keywords, urges online trading platform operators to conduct self-examination and self-correction, and remove relevant transaction information in a timely manner.

In Xiang’an District, the market supervision department conducts key inspections on whether there are purchases, storage, processing, and sales of wild animals in the catering units in the jurisdiction, especially for catering shops, farmhouses, and seafood restaurants that feature game operations. During an on-site inspection of a restaurant, law enforcement officers found 9 Chinese horseshoe crabs in the seafood pool of the restaurant, which were immediately detained and filed for investigation. After confirming that the 9 detained Chinese horseshoe crabs were able to move normally, the law enforcement officers released them to the sea in the waters of Liuwudian Wharf on the day of the operation. At present, the case has been transferred to the procuratorial organ, and the parties concerned will be investigated for criminal responsibility in accordance with the law. It is reported that since the beginning of this year, the Xiang’an District Market Supervision Bureau has filed investigations into 5 illegal purchases and sales of national key wildlife protected animals.
