But after 2 years of war – he continues – we cannot afford to reassure Italians and Europeans that we will not send soldiers to Ukraine and that we will not start a war and then continue to send weapons and think only in terms of instruments of war. And he concludes: “I know perfectly well what the main objection is: we need a just peace. Unfortunately I have now come to the conclusion that the only just peace is also the possible one that we can achieve, if the alternative is a war. Among other things, the conflict is not beneficial to the Ukrainians first, because we clearly see the situation in that country, where there is not only a lack of weapons”.
