Ukraine demands that Russia be expelled from the UN Security Council, but is it possible?

LONDON – Ukraine is asking openly. The Johnson government does not admit it, but it implies: “Moscow must be cut out diplomatically, in every respect”. Other diplomats, reports the Guardian, in the shadows are working on this hypothesis. Therefore, the question arises spontaneously: after the bloody invasion of Ukraine, Russia can be expelled or at least suspended – as Kiev invokes – by the crucial UN Security Council and by other international organizations such as the OSCE ? And if so, how?

Russian Foreign Minister Serghei Lavrov ruled out that this could happen, pointing out that there is no mechanism to eliminate Russia from the UN Security Council.
