Ukrainian Agriculture Minister Mykola Solskyi on Friday he has been arrested and subsequently released after paying bail, as part of an investigation in which he is under investigation for corruption. Solskyi, who is 44 years old and has been minister since March 2022, is accused of illegally appropriating state land worth more than 6.5 million euros between 2017 and 2021, when he was the head of a large agricultural company and at the same time a member of parliament. After the news of the investigation into him, conducted by Ukraine’s national anti-corruption agency, was released, Solskyi submitted his resignation as minister, which however will have to be approved during the next plenary meeting of parliament to be effective.
