From Thursday morning at the Medyka crossing it happens that there is more queue at the entrance to Ukraine than at the exit to Poland: humanitarian aid buses but also columns of private cars, up to 200 all together in moments of maximum crowding. On those with Polish or German plates that have a sheet of paper with the wording “Humanitarian relief” stuck on the door there are usually two people and on the back seats boxes with medicines, groceries and the inevitable cans of food for dogs and cats.
