The armed forces of United States e United Kingdom “with the support of Australia, Canada, the Netherlands and Bahrain,” they attacked more than a dozen sites used by the Houthi in Yemen, using Tomahawk missiles launched from warships and fighter planes. The action, specified the US Central Commandwhich released a video of the departing fighter jets, aimed to “reduce their ability to continue illegal attacks against US and international ships and commercial vessels in the Red Sea” and “targeted radar systems, air defense systems and storage and launch sites for one-way attacks on unmanned aerial systems, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles”.
Two residents of Hodieda, the largest Houthi-controlled port city on the Red Sea, said they had heard five strong explosions. The raids mark the first US military response to drone and missile attacks on commercial shipping since the start of the Israel-Hamas conflict and comes just a week after the White House and some allied countries issued a final warning to the Houthis to cease attacks or face potential military action.
