US-Taiwan. formal commercial initiative negotiations are underway

The United States and Taiwan have formally begun negotiations for a bilateral trade initiative, in a move that risks further inflaming the already high tension with China. The first round of trade talks is scheduled for early fall, Bloomberg reports citing the US Trade Representative’s office. The negotiations “will strengthen our trade and investment relationships, advance common priorities on the trade front, promote innovation and inclusive economic growth for workers and businesses”.
