(ANSA) – WASHINGTON, JUNE 07 – Federal prosecutors have notified former US President Donald Trump that he is the target of a criminal investigation. The notification is a sign that Special Prosecutor Jack Smith, who is investigating the classified papers brought by the tycoon to his residence in Mar-a-Lago, is about to indict Trump.

In recent weeks, Smith has brought several figures from the tycoon’s inner circle before the grand jury investigating the classified documents case, including one of his lawyers, Evan Corcoran, and former chief of staff Mark Meadows.

A former Trump spokesman, Taylor Budowich, admitted being questioned in Florida. The letter sent today to the former US president is the sign that for the indictment it could be a matter of days, if not hours.
