Another shocking video in the US on police brutality appears, a case similar to that of George Floyd but two months earlier. The victim is Edward Bronstein, 38, arrested for a traffic check in California. In the 18-minute clip, officers are seen knocking the handcuffed man down and pressing with their knees on his back for a blood draw as he yells that he is willing to do it voluntarily. Then he keeps repeating Floyd’s own words, “I cant ‘breathe” (I can’t breathe) before losing consciousness for 3 minutes and dying.

The man repeats “I cant ‘breathe” (I can’t breathe) and “Let me breathe” (let me breathe) at least 12 times in 30 seconds and when he loses consciousness the cops keep sucking blood. Then the agents realize that there is no more heartbeat, that it does not seem to breathe and only after more than 11 minutes from the last moans of Bronstein they try in vain the heart massage. The victim’s family sued a dozen policemen for excessive use of force and violation of civil rights, also contesting the autopsy, according to which the man died of “acute methamphetamine intoxication during the arrest”. Almost two years after the tragedy, a judge ordered the release of the video, recorded by one of the officers.
