“I want you all to know that we love you”, begins the pastor, speaking into the microphone. And from the stands there is a long, liberating applause, the first of the two worst days in Uvalde, Texas, thirty kilometers from the border with Mexico. It is the evening in which vigils are organized throughout the United States to commemorate the victims of the umpteenth massacre, from New York to Newtown, where in 2012 the massacre at the Sandy Hook elementary school took place.
