It is an open secret that both British and French soldiers are in Ukraine, for example to provide support with the targeting of the British “Storm Shadow” cruise missile, Sikorski told the German Press Agency. The Foreign Minister reiterated that Poland itself would not send ground troops to Ukraine and justified this with their shared history. Ukraine and Poland were one and the same country for 400 years. Polish ground troops in Ukraine are therefore easy propaganda fodder for the Kremlin.
However, Sikorski welcomed French President Macron’s approach of not taking the option of sending ground troops to the war zone off the table. Russian President Putin should worry about what the West is willing to do to support Ukraine. Germany, however, rejects such plans.
