Evaristo Rendón is one of the least beloved characters in the novel ‘Rigo’ and Julián Arango’s brilliant performance allows many viewers to connect with his role as antagonist. However, originally the role had been offered to another ‘great actor’ who rejected it to play another character in the RCN novel.
Renowned actor refused to be Evaristo Rendón in ‘Rigo’:
As curious as it may be to imagine Evaristo Rendón being played by an actor other than Julián Arango, the role was initially offered to Robinson Díaz, who recently revealed that he did not accept due to scheduling availability issues.
The 57-year-old actor who has shone on Colombian television thanks to outstanding performances in different productions such as ‘Neighbors’, ‘El Cartel’, ‘The Lord of the Skies’, ‘The President’s Woman’, ‘Nobody Knows Who He Works for ‘, among many others, decided not to be Evaristo because he is focused on his projects at a theatrical level.

This is what Robinson told it during an interview:
“They called me to be Evaristo, but I told them it was too long because I have commitments with theater. When they told me that there is another one, his name is ‘Don Rigo’ and he is the father, but there are only 8 chapters. I asked them to show me, I started reading and I said no, dad, that’s the character that interests me at this moment in my life.”
This is how Robinson Díaz experienced the scene of Don Rigoberto’s death:
The actor took the opportunity to talk about that moment that marked a before and after in the life of the successful cyclist, and also what it was like to recreate it:
“The scene is an x-ray of our country, of the last 50 or 60 years of our invisible violence that exists throughout the national territory. It is very painful because it is the story of peasants who are at the mercy of dark forces, who do not have the possibility of defending themselves from armed groups. “It is the story of the humiliation that the Colombian peasant experiences.”
