We premiere “Soon”, a preview of Sara Mansilla’s new album

The intimate jazz of “Soon” is the prelude to what will be the second album by Sara Mansilla, “Fence”, on digital platforms starting at the end of May. Sara, accompanied by the musicians Nacho Soto (keyboards), Juan Oliveira and Víctor Villa (guitars), Eneko Arbea (drums) and Jorge Luengo (electric bass), recorded the single with the collaboration of a sound engineer Victor Sanchez at the Elkar studios in Aduna.

As he notes about “Soon”, “it was born in the middle of the pandemic as a moving musical expression of how art can emerge from the deepest human experiences. It is a song of support for those who are going through difficult times, specifically the isolation that many of us experience during those such unusual months.” In those moments of uncertainty and loneliness, Sara asked herself: “What would I need to hear to feel better right now? What message would you like to convey to all those people who I miss so much these days? And thus “Soon” was born. The song offers a light of hope in the midst of darkness and reminds us that in the end, love and connection will prevail – it is a musical hug for the soul in difficult times.

The San Sebastian artist’s passion for music began at a very early age. At just 7 years old, she began taking guitar lessons, which laid the foundation for her future in the musical world. She was part of her neighborhood music school, where she participated in various choirs, perfecting her vocal technique and her understanding of music. At just 16 years old, she wrote the song that would become the title of her first album, “Talking to the Wall.” After performing in bars in the city fusing original songs with covers of pop and rock songs, in 2017 she decided to train at the Higher Music Center of the Basque Country in Donostia, Musikene. Here, her formal education in jazz performance is expanded, thus deepening her musical knowledge, as well as her group leading ability. Furthermore, her participation in the Kutxa Kultur Musika program, based in Tabakalera, provided a very interesting boost to her emerging career. It was at Musikene where Sara met the musicians who accompanied her in the recording of her first album, ‘Talking to the Wall’. Ten original songs written by herself, where she can show her vocal ability and cover the songs that were born from a guitar.
