Smøla is really in the eye of the storm, when the extreme weather “Ingunn” hits the North Sea coast with full force on Wednesday. A full storm is expected, with wind gusts of up to 50 meters per second.
– I see that some weather has been reported, yes, says Baadnes.

– You don’t get nervous when you see the buildings disappear around you in the storm?
– No. We who live up here are used to it. Weather and wind are something we live with, so we take it as it comes, says Baadnes.
During the New Year’s hurricane in 1992, a barn disappeared from both farms owned by Baadne.
– They were rebuilt then, and the barn that disappeared last time has been rebuilt now, he says.
Barn crushed to stickwood
A red danger warning has been issued in Møre and Romsdal on Thursday, NVE reports. There will be strong gusts of wind, a full storm and the risk of a hurricane in the Outer North Sea. According to the forecast, locally extreme gusts of between 35–50 m/s are expected.
The state administrator in Møre and Romsdal called the municipalities and the county emergency council to a meeting on Tuesday afternoon.
– We will receive a review of the extreme weather that awaits us from the Meteorological Institute, so that all actors can prepare. In addition to the municipalities, regional emergency services are involved, which include the road service, power supply and police. The purpose of the meeting is a good update, Sætre told Tidens Krav on Tuesday.

The state administrator has the following advice for the areas affected:
- Stay inside
- Follow the advice of emergency authorities
- Follow the advice of the Norwegian Road Administration and check road announcements on 175.no if you MUST drive
- Follow advice and check status from transport operators
- Prepare your home for a potential extended power outage
- Be careful when driving in the beach zone and on the lake
- In advance, assess measures to limit damage
