Nutritionist Nađa Radonjić reveals which types of bread are healthier than others.

Research shows that we eat half as much bread as we did 20 years ago, and unfortunately there are more and more obese people. Nutritionist Nađa Radonjić explained for Prva TV whether the large amount of bread is the cause of our increasing obesity.

“I wouldn’t say that a large amount of bread is a pattern of obesity. Throughout history we ate bread much more than today. I think we have replaced the idea of ​​bread in the wrong way. I often hear in practice. ‘We are not that primitive family that eats white bread.’ “White bread, you will be surprised, but it has fewer calories than integral bread,” explained the nutritionist. It adds that wholemeal bread is better and has a higher amount of fiber, minerals and vitamins.

“That grain is much richer than refined, white wheat. Wholemeal bread has a higher amount of calories, but also fiber. It is better to eat wholemeal bread. Bread has no place with rice and potatoes, which our culture sometimes implies,” she said.

The nutritionist pointed out that bread should not be excluded from the diet. Of course, unless you are gluten intolerant.

“Wholegrain bread has B vitamins and useful ingredients and should not be thrown out like that, but should be treated as a meal in itself,” she added.

When it comes to black bread, nutritionist Radonjić pointed out that whole grain black bread was the healthiest option. If you want to avoid gluten, you need to eliminate barley, wheat and rye from your diet, while all other grains are welcome in bread. The nutritionist ranked the types of bread from the worst to the best. In her opinion the worst would be wheat breadwhile rye and barley should be included in the diet as often as possible.
