In Anitta: from Honório to the world, a production available on Netflix, the “queen of Brazilian pop reveals the woman behind her success and talks about fame, family and her strong work ethic,” according to its synopsis.

In the documentary she talks about a relationship she had in her adolescence, when she was 14 she was with a 21-year-old young man, in an abusive situation. “I met a person who I was afraid of because she was kind of authoritarian with me, she spoke to me in an authoritarian way. “He was very nervous one day and under a lot of stress. I was very afraid of the relationship with him and ended up asking if he wanted us to go somewhere alone. Immediately his stress passed and he asked me if I was sure. I told him yes. But today I’m not sure if I said yes because I was very afraid of him,” she commented in the file, later saying that she was a victim of rape.

“I told him I didn’t want to, but he didn’t listen to me. She didn’t tell me anything, she just continued doing what he wanted to do. When she finished she went for a beer and I stared at the blood-stained bed,” she added.

In the six-episode docuseries, she reflects on the consequences of abuse: “I recently stopped blaming myself for what happened. Only recently did I stop thinking I had caused it. “I transformed what happened back then into something that helped me come out victorious, to be in a better position.”

“I was always afraid of what people would say: how could she have been a victim if today she is so sexual, so open, and does so much. Don’t know. What I know is that I took what I experienced and turned it into something that helped me improve myself and come out better,” she said.

He created his stage name as a result of that event: “It was born from that. “Of my will and need to be a courageous woman, whom no one else could hurt, who no one could make cry.” The name “Anitta” was chosen from a Brazilian television series, but it has not been revealed which one.
