After an eight-hour manhunt, police arrested the 22-year-old young man suspected of opening fire on a July 4th parade on the outskirts of Chicago, killing six and wounding 31. Robert Crimo, who authorities did not he still officially defined the perpetrator of the massacre, was stopped while he was driving his car in the Lake Forest area, north of the Illinois metropolis, and was immediately taken to the plant for questioning.
At the moment we only know what appears on social media: rapper with the pseudonym Awake, several tattoos on his face and neck, a resident of the city where he probably committed his massacre. In a photo of his Facebook profile, now obscured but relaunched by many Twitter users, the young man appears with a helmet and a small camera on his head and his face covered. Frames of a decidedly disturbing video posted on his Youtube channel and obscured that too. Also from his page, an image of a demonstration by the Patriot Front, a white supremacist organization.
Speaking with CNN, Robert Crimo’s uncle, Paul, describes his nephew as a quiet, peaceful, lonely young man who had never shown violent behavior and was often on Youtube. The man said he saw the 22-year-old the night before the massacre on Sunday. “He was at the computer in his room,” he said. “We are good people, this is devastating,” he added. Bobby, as they call him in the family, lives in an apartment behind his father Robert Crimo Jr.’s house, Paul explained.
The uncle also said he had never seen friends at the young man’s home and as far as he knows, he did not have a job, even though he had worked at a local bakery, Panera Bread, prior to the Covid-19 pandemic.
