In November last year, it became known that Ferd heiress Katharina Andresen had paid NOK 585 million for the well-known property “Sjømannskirken” on Bygdøy in Oslo. The purchase broke all previous records.

The 5.9-acre property has a swimming pool, shoreline and a main house of 533 square meters.

Now Andresen’s fiance Frederic Kvasnes has applied to the municipality to build an underground garage under the property. This appears in documents sent to the Planning and Building Agency.

Katharina Andresen and her sister Alexandra Andresen together own 85 percent of the family-owned investment company Ferd. Katharina was listed with a fortune of just under NOK 7.3 billion in 2022.

Finansavisen mentioned the matter first.

In the letter to the Planning and Building Agency, Kvasnes asks for a meeting, and has put forward three possible alternatives for how such a garage facility can be designed. He also asks that the application not be made public.

“We want to develop a fully or partially underground parking solution for the property. The work is in a very early phase and I ask that the content of the request be treated confidentially”, writes architect and responsible applicant Hallstein Guthu on behalf of Kvasnes.

But as with all other such requests to the municipality, the floor plans are published on the municipality’s website.

The drawings suggest:

  • One solution under the garage that is currently on the property.
  • One solution under the swimming pool on the property.
  • And one solution that goes under large parts of the property, except under the main house and a large tree that stands centrally on the property

Kvasnes writes to E24 that these are currently only preliminary illustrations of the project.

– There are no plans or thoughts to build any large-scale garage. These are some preliminary, non-binding diagrams to illustrate what may practically be possible in the future, he writes.

Kvasnes also adds:

– Registers that someone has taken this out of proportion. This is more about moving some elements underground to safeguard the cultural value of the home and the garden, not for other interests.

In the letter to the Planning and Building Agency, Guthu and Kvasnes write that they want a meeting with the agency.

“We have looked carefully at possible locations on the site with consequences and proposed some alternatives. Since, according to the municipality’s mapping system, the property is not regulated and there have been a number of issues related to the property, we ask for a preliminary conference with PBE around 15 May this year to clarify the planning basis and lay the foundation for a coordinated understanding going forward.” they write.
