Liverpool advanced to the quarter-finals Cup FOUR this season is done conquering Southampton 3-0 in the round of 16. The Reds’ chance of winning a quadruple this season is still maintained.

The hosts managed to open the scoring in the 44th minute. Starting from Bobby Clark’s through ball, Lewis Koumas fired a low shot into the left corner of the Southampton goal which successfully outwitted goalkeeper Joe Lumley.

In the second half, Liverpool increased their lead in the 73rd minute. Jayden Danns, who came on to replace Koumas, successfully got his name on the scoreboard.
Starting from a miscommunication between Will Smallbone and Ryan Manning, the ball was captured by Harvey Elliott who launched a counterattack. He then provided a through pass to Danns who escaped the offside trap to beat Lumley in a one-on-one duel.
Danns became the star in this match by scoring his second goal in the 88th minute. Conor Bradley’s shot into the left corner of Southampton’s goal was blocked by Lumley, but Danns grabbed the wild ball into the visitors’ goal.
The 3-0 score lasted until the end. Thus, Liverpool qualified for the quarter-finals of the FA Cup to face Manchester United who successfully beat Nottingham Forest 1-0.
