This Sunday (31/3) Olympique de Marseille and PSG held another edition of the most important classic in French football, as it involves the teams with the biggest fans in the country. The duel for the 27th round of Ligue 1 was at the Velodrome, home of Olympique, which received a unique crowd. And the Marseille masses left frustrated. After all, PSG won 2-0, with Portuguese goals from Vitinha and Gonçalo Ramos. It was a triumph of race, as Paris played with ten since the 40th minute of the first half: Brazilian Beraldo was sent off for a controversial free kick. Goalkeeper Donnarumma, with great saves, was the man of the game.
PSG had 62 points and leads comfortably, as Brest has 50 in second place. Olympique is only in seventh place, with 39 points, four behind the group in the European league zone.
Balanced first half
The game was tense, very truncated and with few chances to score in the first half, with PSG with more possession (58%) and shots (6 to 4), but seeing four of their five defensive players yellowed. In fact, in the 40th minute, Beraldo, who already had a yellow card, made a non-violent foul in midfield, but pushing his rival who was on his way to the goal. The judge went to the VAR and gave red to the Brazilian team’s starter. PSG had ten.
PSG’s best chance was right at the beginning with Fabián Ruiz isolating a shot in the small area and a beautiful individual play by Dembélé, who ended up shooting weakly. Olympique had an opportunity on a cross in which Danilo Pereira cut and almost scored against (the ball skimmed the post, with Donnarumma beaten). And a shot from Veretout, but it brushed the post.
Portuguese score and PSG wins
In the second half, Vitinha made a great move, pulling off a counterattack and passing it to Dembélé, who passed it back for the Portuguese to hit first time and put PSG 1-0 ahead. At 13, Olympique even had a goal disallowed for offside. Olympique, supported by the fans, remained on top. He almost scored a ghost goal when left-back Merlin tried to cross and the ball went towards the goal. But Donnaruma sent the corner. The PSG goalkeeper did well, making two great saves and ensuring that his goal was not missed.
At 30, PSG killed the game. Olympique had a corner (in a move that called for a penalty, but the referee and VAR didn’t give it) and the visiting team set up the counterattack. Hakimi passed it to Asensio and he passed it to the Portuguese Gonçalo Ramos – who had replaced Mbappé in the 20th minute of the final stage – to send it into the net.
