Women dominate the 2024 Grammys – MONDO MODA

Women dominated the 66th edition of the Grammy Awards, which took place on Sunday, February 4th. Taylor Swift, SZA, Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish, Kylie Minogue, Victoria Monet and Boygenius (despite the name, it is an all-female band) were awarded.
The former won an incredible fourth award for best album of the year and became the first artist to achieve this feat. She also used her first win for best pop vocal album to announce a new EP, “The Tortured Poets Department,” which will be released on April 19.

The ‘comeback’ moment that the music industry loves, Miley Cyrus won her first Grammys for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance, both for the song “Flowers”. His live performance rocked. SZA, who had the most nominations this year, won three trophies, including best R&B song.
Girl band Boygenius won Best Rock Song (“Not Strong Enough”), Rock Performance and Alternative Album.
In his Dr. Dree Global Impact award victory speech, singer and producer Jay-Z commented “The most Grammy Awards Sold (reference to Beyoncé) and never won album of the year. How does it work?”. Remembering that his wife’s great “Renaissance”, from 2022 and “Lemonade”, from 2016, secured some of the singer’s 32 Grammys, except for album of the year.
Brazilians Astrud Gilberto and Rita Lee were remembered among the tributes to artists who died in 2023. Tony Bennett, Sinéad O’Connor and Tina Turner received tributes from Stevie Wonder, Annie Lennox (the best performance) and Fantasia Barino.

Another big moment was Joni Mitchell’s first awards performance. In her 80s and after recovering from an aneurysm, the folk singer was moved by her performance of “Both Sides Now” alongside Brandy Carlisle. She also won Best Folk Album. It was her 10th award – including an honorary award in 2002.
Lana Del Rey, Olivia Rodrigo and Dua Lipa left empty-handed.
