Four German women are tackling the sprint at the 2024 Biathlon World Championships in Nove Mesto. The Top nations have four starting places at the Biathlon World Cup available – in the World Cup there are six. The defending champion also has a personal right to start. Women’s head coach Kristian Mehringer has chosen Franziska Preuß, Vanessa Voigt, Sophia Schneider and Janina Hettich-Walz decided. Voigt showed a flawless performance at the shooting range, but had major problems with his running. At the start of the season in Östersund she came fifth in the sprint, which gives hope for the World Championships. Hettich-Walz is one of the secret favorites. In Oberhof and Ruhpolding she ran into the top six in the sprint. Schneider struggled with health problems throughout the season and is only an outsider.
