Xabi Alonso uses the press conference before the league game against Hoffenheim to confirm that he will continue to be coach of Bayer Leverkusen next season.
The 42-year-old Spaniard officially announced on Good Friday afternoon what had already leaked through the media a few hours earlier. “I’m in the right place here. I’m staying at Bayer 04,” says Xabi Alonso. He was able to use the international break to reflect on his own situation and think about his future. After a very good conversation with managing director Simon Rolfes, among other things, he decided to continue in Leverkusen. He feels the full support of those responsible and enjoys his work and dealing with the players.
Alonso is under contract with the Werkself until 2026. Next year the question of his future will arise again, but now he wants to go full throttle to achieve his goals this season.
Xabi Alonso will remain under the cross next season! 🖤❤️
