“Today, unfortunately, each of us has someone to whom we will honor with a minute of silence. We bow our heads together. 730 days of pain. But at the same time, 730 days of hope,” Zelenski said in a video recorded at Gostomelj airport.
This airport was occupied by the Russian army at the beginning of the invasion, but later they withdrew from Gostomelje and the entire Kiev area.
The Ukrainian president reminded the Ukrainian forces of what was achieved in the past two years.
“Remembering what the Ukrainians have already done, you know that we can definitely do it. We are capable. We will succeed. And here, in this place, you understand it in the best possible way: metal can be melted, but Ukrainians cannot.” He said.
Zelenski praised his nation for “surviving the beginning of the war and even succeeding against all odds.”
“The nation that survived the first three days and did not fall on the fourth… And won on the fifth day. And then for a month. And then – six months. And now – two years”said Zelenski.
