KIEV.- The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, admitted in an interview that 2023 would have been difficult for Kyiv without the military support of other nations, especially in the final stretch of last year.

Zelensky called for faster support from his allies, emphasizing that without this help, Kyiv would have “no chance.” In an interview with Fox News, Zelensky stated, “We have to move faster. That means losing all the bureaucracy. Otherwise, we will have no chance.”

Acknowledging the challenges of finding an alternative to American support, Zelensky expressed confidence in finding other avenues of assistance. “Of course we will find it. We will not stay in the same place. We have to survive. We have to find some parallel paths,” he said.

The US Senate recently approved a $95 billion package that includes funding for Ukraine, but House Speaker Mike Johnson has not yet scheduled a floor vote on the matter.

Zelensky stressed the crucial importance of EU assistance, warning that without it, more Ukrainian soldiers would end up in hospitals. He highlighted the necessity of a strong defense shield and powerful artillery with ammunition to protect Ukrainian forces.

Meanwhile, Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine continues, with recent reports indicating that Russian forces have taken control of the city of Avdéyevka. This development has raised questions about Zelensky’s leadership, especially after appointing a new commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin accused the United States and its allies of not seeking a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Kyiv. He claimed that Western countries benefit financially from the conflict, with funding allocated to Ukraine ultimately promoting the US military-industrial complex while Ukrainian citizens suffer on the battlefield.

As the situation in Ukraine remains precarious, Zelensky urged for continued support from allies to ensure the defense and security of the country.
