The former blue ski player at the solidarity golf event wanted by Sc Drusciè: “Cortina will organize a super Olympics: I know it, I bet”

CORTINA. Champion on the track and in solidarity. Peter Fill, now a coach after hanging up his boots, was the protagonist of the charity event called “Drusciè golf race” held on Sunday in Cortina. From the poles to the green, the step was short for the former downhill skier from Castelrotto, multiple world champion who has never hidden his passion for golf. The Ampezzo stage was an opportunity to talk about the Winter Olympics. He who lived it for the “first time” in Italy, in Turin in 2006.

«They will be a great event that will give prestige to the whole of Italy», Fill sentenced, «the hope is that we can do well in the race. There are many young athletes who, in view of 2026, will be ready for the medal. As regards the organizational aspects, the approach march started in a good light. There is cohesion and enthusiasm. Cortina, then, represents a guarantee. He will do his part as he did at the recent World Ski Championships ».

Fill, what memory of the Olympic experience?

«In Turin in 2006 I was too young. In 2026 I expect to be able to enjoy the event from a different position. When you are in the race you can never fully experience the outline. You are too focused on racing. I look forward to 2026 to enjoy the show from a different location. What if I miss the races? I’m honest, no. I decided to end my competitive career due to back pain. The last few days had gotten too tiring. Now I am a coach, a new role that I like. We have so many good young guys who deserve a chance. My task is to make them emerge ».

The relationship with Cortina?

«I met her, for the first time, coming to compete. I was little more than a child. She is the queen among the stages of the women’s world cup, I would like to see her among the stages of the men’s world cup as well. Cortina is a magical place, not only in the sports field. If I can, I always go back very willingly ».

Fill was in Cortina to participate in a solidarity event organized by the Druscié ski club together with other guests starting with the “hosts” Giovanni Dibona and Bruno Alberti and Ivano Edalini, a blue skier of the eighties. All together they ventured into a nine-hole promotional competition with a charitable purpose. The event recorded the presence of a delegation from the Belluno section of Admo, the bone marrow donors association. Satisfaction was expressed by the president of the Druscié ski club Flavio Alberti: «We thought it was right to make everyone aware of the donation of bone marrow. One gesture can save a life. It is a topic that touches us closely because a few months ago leukemia took away a great friend and colleague of ours, Andrea Puicher Soravia. It is precisely in his memory, in the memory of “Pera” that we wanted to propose this day, in the awareness that in life, unfortunately, there are challenges that cannot be fought on a green or along a giant track ».
