LEGALITY AND RESPONSIBILITY PARTY – Saturday 18 May 2024 at 9.30 in the City Council room (Piazza Municipio 2 – FE)

The Order of Journalists and the Journalists Foundation of Emilia-Romagna in collaboration with the Municipality of Ferrara – Press Office and Assostampa Ferrara has organized for Saturday 18 May 2024 from 9.30 to 13.30 in the City Council room (Piazza del Municipio 2, FE) a training seminar aimed at journalists and open to all citizens on the topic “Whistleblowing, reporting illegality: laws, rules, news cases. The protection of sources, an ethical duty”. The initiative is included in the 2024 program of the Legality and Responsibility Festival.

Participation is free and open (registrations for journalists on the ODG training platform).

On 9 March 2023, the Council of Ministers definitively approved the legislative decree implementing European Directive 2019/1937 regarding the protection of people who report offenses of which they become aware due to their employment relationship. Through the analysis of the new regulations on whistleblowing, during the seminar we will delve into news cases at a national and international level for an initial evaluation of their correct application. The meeting, which provides ethical training credits for registered journalists, also proposes an in-depth analysis and ethical update on the protection of sources in the journalistic field, as a fundamental tool for carrying out investigative journalism activities for the benefit of citizens.
