20th Century Studios has big plans for the “Predator” universe, with a rumored sequel to “Predator: The Hunt” and a new independent project titled “Badlands”. The studio has announced that both projects will be helmed by director Dan Trachtenberg and screenwriter Patrick Aison.
“Predator: The Hunt,” directed by Trachtenberg, has been a massive success, breaking Hulu traffic records, receiving a 94% freshness rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and even earning a nomination for the Emmy Award for Best Movie. With such accolades, it’s no surprise that 20th Century Studios wants Trachtenberg to continue leading the development of the Predator universe.
Details about “Badlands” are currently limited, but it is known that the story will be set in the future and feature a female protagonist. Production is expected to begin in July of this year.
As for the sequel to “Predator: The Hunt,” it is still in the early stages of development. While the setting of the new film will continue from the previous one, the studio has yet to confirm whether lead actress Amber Midthunder will return for the sequel.
With these exciting developments in the works, fans of the “Predator” franchise have a lot to look forward to in the coming years. Stay tuned for more updates on these projects from 20th Century Studios.
