by admin

Barilla challenges Ferrero and enters the ice cream business. The Parma multinational has signed a partnership with Algida to land on the market in January with some specialties that will be produced in Italy and which will inspire other snacks of the group.
The agreement also provides for the distribution in the out-of-home channel of sweet and savory single-portion snacks already produced by Barilla.

“We are convinced that the ice cream market offers interesting prospects and we know that we have brands and products of great interest to the Italian consumer at home – explains Francesco Del Porto, president of Region Italy of Barilla – the intention is to maintain our commitments in terms of quality, Italian style and high-level raw materials, relying on Algida’s great know-how and enormous logistical-distribution asset. We are starting this project in Italy but we have the ambition to soon extend the perspective to other European countries as well ». For Barilla, the agreement aims to ensure consistent summer seasonality for its brands in the biscuits and snacks sector.
