Steve Winter is an American photojournalist who has worked for years with National Geographic, specializing in topics related to the natural and animal world. He has won numerous awards, such as two World press photos in 2008 and 2014.
In the review of exhibitions organized by the Siena international photo awards, Winter exhibits Big cats, the largest retrospective of him in Italy. The shots, exhibited at the Natural History Museum until December 5, summarize his passion for big cats. The photographer has portrayed them around the world to show us their beauty and raise awareness of the threats they face every day when they share their habitat with humans. “I’m trying to find images that people have never seen before that give them a reason to worry not only about animals, but also about the ecosystems they live in,” says Winter.
In addition to Steve Winter, eight other exhibitions around the city are planned during the festival, including a solo show on Brent Stirton, another photojournalist committed to sustainability and animal protection, and Above us only sky, a group exhibition on aerial photography where the photos awarded at the Drone photo awards are exhibited.
