Nuquí: Ancestral Festival of Knowledge and Flavors of the Pacific

A space for family enjoyment was experienced by Nuquiseños and visitors within the framework of the IV version of the ancestral gastronomic festival “Meeting of Ancestral Knowledge and Flavors of the Pacific”, an event organized by the Association of Entrepreneurial Women of Nuquí, with the support of the Secretariat of Economic Entrepreneurship and Social Development of the mayor of Nuquí

During the meeting, more than thirty entrepreneurs from the Afro and indigenous populations of the municipality exhibited their artisan products, typical drinks and gastronomy. There were delegations from:

Quibdó, Guapi (Cauca), Buenaventura (Valle), Medio San Juan, Bajo Baudó and Nuquí with their townships.

“On this day I have made my business known through which we make all types of cokes and sweets. I thank the Association of Entrepreneurial Women of Nuquí because with the meeting it has allowed us to share valuable knowledge and knowledge of our indigenous people and our Afro population,” said Yenny Martínez, entrepreneur from the town of Joví.

During the tour through the hallways of the covered sports field, attendees were able to observe the ventures that told stories of cultures. Likewise, they enjoyed artistic presentations of Pacific music performed by local groups.

Janice Murillo, Secretary of Economic Entrepreneurship and Social Development, highlighted that the meeting is part of the mayor’s commitment to the well-being of the ethnic groups settled in the municipality. These types of activities seek to make visible the assets that the territory has, all with the aim of promoting, protecting and rescuing ethnic and cultural identity.

Nimia iris González Valdés, member of the Women’s Association, stated: “The community was visiting the stands of each enterprise, buying the products that were offered, it was a successful IV Meeting of Ancestral Knowledge and Flavors of the Pacific.”
