Rescue offshore from the Coast Guard and conducted to Roccella
(ANSA) – ROCCELLA IONICA, 22 NOV – New landing of migrants at the port of Roccella Ionica, in Locride. Last night, after a rescue operation at sea carried out by the Coast Guard of Roccella Ionica, 88 refugees of various nationalities arrived, all men, many of them young and many unaccompanied minors.
Before reaching Roccella Ionica, the migrants were on board a sailboat just under 20 meters long located about 10 miles from the coast by the Coast Guard patrol boats. With this last landing the number of arrivals has risen to 51 (46 only in Roccella) which so far have occurred in the last five months in the stretch of coast of Locride.
After disembarking in the Port of Roccella, the migrants were subjected to the molecular swab test. Subsequently they were temporarily placed in a recently built tensile structure inside the Port and managed by the volunteers of the Red Cross and Civil Protection. (HANDLE).
