Augmented reality debuts on luxury boats. Sanlorenzo, a shipyard based in Ameglia (La Spezia), specialized in the construction of large yachts, has launched the Smart helmet. Developed by the research team e information technology of the company, the helmet is a device that integrates three technologies: a viewer, a signal transmission system that is effective even in shielded environments and a communication application for connection with the workstations of the Sanlorenzo service technicians. In practice, the system allows audio and video communication in high definition, and with augmented reality, between an operator on board wearing the Smart helmet and the service technicians on site. Objective: to make assistance operations easier and more efficient. In fact, the helmet allows the user on board to transmit what he sees, via video call, to the service technician, allowing him to immediately evaluate the problem. The operator can therefore provide complete assistance, in real time, to the person on board , even thousands of miles away.
