Milan, 24 January 2022 – Claudio Ranieri is no longer the coach of the Watford. After those with the Leicester and the Fulham, also another English adventure – the one on the bench of the Hornets – ends with the exemption for the former Sampdoria. The Roman coach, chosen by the management on 4 October last to take the place of Xisco Munoz, pays for the poor results (only one success and just seven points collected in 13 Premier League games, in addition to the elimination from the Fa Cup), with the team in penultimate place at 14 points, just two more than the rear Burnley.
The Watford salute
“The board recognizes Claudio as a man of great integrity and honor, who will always be respected here at Vicarage Road for his commitment to leading the team with dignity,” reads the statement released by Watford. For Ranieri, that with the Hornets was the fourth experience as a manager of a Premier League formation after those at Chelsea (from 2000 to 2004), at Leicester (from 2015 to 2017 and at Fulham (from 2017 to 2019).
