Andolfo’s team must beat Rhodense to be able to hope again The Rossoneri and Varzi race against Castanese, a key day on Sunday
PAVIA
Almost impregnable from Varese, with his 55 points and repeated demonstrations of strength in the second round, but behind him is a brawl. Not so much for the qualification for the playoffs, with the games already closed (Verbano very detached), but rather for the placement in the play-off grid which can therefore be worth a lot, in light of the advantage guaranteed to the best-ranked team. Currently, the second place is the prerogative of Castanese, at an altitude of 49, but both Varzi (45) and Vogherese (44) can aim to overtake, even if the operation appears rather complicated, both for the gap to be bridged and for the solidity of the team of the vice top scorer Gibellini. A key day, from this point of view, will be next Sunday, with the direct clashes Varzi-Castanese and Sestese-Vogherese: the Rossoneri, engaged in Sesto Calende against the other third force of group A, are confident in a victory for the grenade cousins to shorten distances; provided, of course, an away success that extends the positive streak of Romano and his teammates (8 successes in the last 9 games, with the only exception of the Chiappano derby).
On the other side of the ranking, Pavia flounders in third from last position, arm in arm with Seveso and with a margin on Rhodense, who will visit the Azzurri at Fortunati on Sunday. A match to be won at any cost, to keep alive the flame of hope in direct salvation, after the glorious opportunity wasted in the home of Cinderella Settimo and in the light of the commitments of the direct competitors: the Pavese Academy struggling away with the leaders Varesina (who in the match of Sant’Alessio trimmed a fifth to the red and white of Gaudio), the Seveso that hosts the Gavirate, fifth last on a par with the Academy. Just the red and white seem to be the most in shape (four consecutive victories) and, having crossed the Varesina rock, they will host a seventh already doomed in the midweek of Wednesday 6 April, while Pavia will be involved in the Parisi derby with Voghe.—
