In order to illustrate this effect, the saving behavior within the same income brackets was evaluated – separately for owners of owner-occupied living space (“owners”) and for tenants. This shows that “the savings rates of owners in all phases of life are always twice as high as for tenants of the same age and in the same income bracket,” writes study author Reiner Braun from Empirica.
