Alfa Romeo Brenner, the Anti Mini compact SUV in 2023. Here’s what we know

by admin

The Alfa Romeo Brenner will arrive in 2023 and will have all the credentials to be successful in the compact SUV segment. If the name is not yet confirmed, so is the positioning, thanks to the statement of the managing director Jean-Phillipe Imparato in a meeting with the English press. Alfa Romeo is working to launch a compact SUV to be placed under the Tonale, the latter expected by next June, also marketed in an electric version.

Alfa Romeo challenges Mini

Alfa Romeo aims to challenge Mini as part of its expansion strategy in some of the major market segments under the aegis of Stellantis’ new corporate structure. ā€œWe can absolutely fight Mini; the premium segment is not just a question of size, “said Alfa Romeo CEO Jean-Phillipe Imparato during a round table with British journalists, hinting that in 2023 the Biscione could launch a compact SUV to be placed under the Tonale, which should be launched next June. “I am convinced that if we want to secure Alfa Romeo as regards the accounts over the next 10 years, we must be present in the main segments in the world: B-Suv and C-Suv,” said Imparato. Alfa Romeo would be developing a small SUV that will probably be called Brenner, after the famous mountain pass of northern Italy. The car is expected to be built at the Stellantis plant in Poland, although this has not been confirmed. For its part, Mini recently announced that it is developing a small electric SUV to be placed under the Countryman, a model to which Imparato has referred. Ā«Alfa currently only sells the Giulia and the Stelvio midsize SUV. The lack of electrified versions has limited Alfa Romeo sales to around 60,000 units per year. The Mini sold 292,394 vehicles globally last year, ā€said Imparato. The compact Tonale SUV will come with a plug-in hybrid at launch. Production will start at the Stellantis plant in Pomigliano in March 2022, which will be followed three months after the launch “If I consider the quality ok,” said Imparato.
